Meet trans people in NYC
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
What cruush is
cruush is a location-based cruising app for queer people. You open a map and see who is nearby, who is passing through, and who is up for meeting now.
It works in and around New York City, within about 100 miles of the city.
Profile labels
You choose how your profile describes you. The gender list includes trans woman, trans man, transmasc, transfemme, nonbinary, genderfluid, two-spirit and many others. You are not limited to a short list, and you can change your choice whenever you want.
Photos without a face
cruush is an adult app and does not require your face in a photo. You can have up to four photos on your profile. Photos are checked automatically before they are published, and some go to a human reviewer.
Who sees your location
Your precise location is off by default. People see you in an area. You can limit precise location to people you are mutual cruushes with, and you can turn on Ghost Mode, which shows a decoy position instead of your real one.
Who sees your photos
Only signed-in people you have allowed can see your photos. Photos are encrypted where they are stored. Blocking someone cuts off their access straight away, including to photos they already loaded.
Block and report
Blocking is on every profile and works in both directions. Reporting is right next to it, and a person reads each report. Photos in a message can be set to view once, and messages can be set to expire.
Who it is for
cruush is for adults. The minimum age is 18, and an account requires age verification.
