A cruising app for women
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
What cruising means here
On cruush, cruising means finding people near you who want to meet, often soon. You open a map and see who is nearby, who is passing through, and who is up for meeting now.
Who is on it
cruush is for queer people. Women can pick labels like woman, cis woman, trans woman, femme or nonbinary for their gender, and lesbian, bisexual, pansexual or queer for their orientation. The labels are on your profile, and you choose them.
You decide who gets close
A cruush is a signal of interest. When someone cruushes you back, it is mutual. You can keep parts of your profile and your precise location for mutual cruushes only, so you open up one person at a time.
Location and photos
Your precise location is off by default, and people see you in an area. Ghost Mode shows a decoy position. Your photos are only visible to signed-in people you have allowed, and you do not need to show your face.
Blocking and reporting
Blocking is on every profile, takes effect immediately and works in both directions. A person reads every report.
Where it works
cruush works in and around New York City, within about 100 miles of the city. It is for adults, minimum age 18, and an account requires age verification.
