A gay cruising app for New York City
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
Labels
The sexuality list includes gay, achillean, bisexual and queer. Gender options include man, cis man and trans man. Body type labels include bear, otter, cub, twink, muscular and lean, and presentation labels include masc. All of them are optional.
The map
Open cruush and you see who is nearby, who is passing through and who is up for meeting now. If you want someone to know you noticed them, send a cruush. If they send one back, you are mutual.
Photos
Up to four photos per profile. A face is not required, and only signed-in people you have allowed can see them.
Where people are
New York has queer nightlife and meeting places across all five boroughs. cruush does not list venues. It shows people, and you can move your pin to a neighborhood to see who is around before you head over.
Using it while traveling through
If you are in New York for a night, passing through is one of the three groups on the map, so people can see you are not local. It saves explaining and sets expectations.
Coverage
cruush works in and around New York City, within about 100 miles of it.
