Meet lesbians and queer women in NYC
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
What cruush is
cruush is a location-based cruising app for queer people. You open a map and see who is nearby, who is passing through, and who is up for meeting now. It is built around that map, not around a stack of profiles to swipe through.
It works in and around New York City, within about 100 miles of the city.
Saying who you are
Your profile lets you pick labels for your gender and your orientation. The orientation list includes lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer and more. The gender list includes woman, cis woman, trans woman, nonbinary, femme and more. You pick what fits, and you can change it later.
Finding people nearby
The map shows people around you right now. If you are heading to Brooklyn or Queens later, you can move your pin there ahead of time and see who is around before you arrive.
A mutual cruush
Sending a cruush tells someone you are interested. If they cruush you back, it is mutual. You can keep parts of your profile and your precise location for mutual cruushes only.
Your location
Your exact position is not shown by default. By default people see you in an area, not at a point. Ghost Mode goes further and shows a decoy position instead of your real one.
If someone is a problem
You can block or report anyone from their profile. Blocking takes effect immediately, in both directions. Reports are read by a person.
Who it is for
cruush is for adults. The minimum age is 18, and an account requires age verification.
