Cruising when you are new to transition
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
There is no right timeline
You can meet people at any point in your transition, or before you have started. You do not owe anyone an explanation of where you are.
Choose your labels
On cruush you can pick the gender labels that fit you now and change them later. The list includes trans woman, trans man, transmasc, transfemme, nonbinary and many more. You can also add pronouns.
Find supportive people
Many trans people are glad to meet others who are newer. T4T spaces can be easier, because you do not have to explain. If someone makes you feel small, you can block them.
Photos and privacy
You do not need a face in your photos. Your location is shown as an area by default, and you can use Ghost Mode. You can keep parts of your profile for mutual cruushes only.
Look after yourself
- Go at your own pace, and do not meet anyone until you are ready.
- Meet in public the first time and tell a friend.
- Remember that a no from someone is about them, not about you.
- Find support outside the app too, such as a trans community group or a clinician you trust.
