Queer cruising app in Queens

Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.

The borough

Queens is Queens County and the largest borough by area. Neighborhoods people mention often include Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Flushing and Forest Hills.

Getting around

The 7 train runs from Long Island City through Sunnyside, Woodside and Jackson Heights to Flushing. The N and W serve Astoria, and the Long Island Rail Road has stations across the borough.

Queens Pride

Queens Pride has been held since 1993, on the first Sunday in June, on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights.

Using cruush

Queens is large and spread out. Moving your pin to the neighborhood you are headed to is easier than guessing.

Neighborhood notes

Astoria and Long Island City are on the western edge, across the East River from Manhattan. Sunnyside and Jackson Heights are in the center, and Flushing is farther east. Forest Hills is south of Jackson Heights.

Planning a night

Queens is large, and getting between neighborhoods can take longer than you expect. Allow extra time, and check the subway and bus schedule.
