Queer cruising app in the Hudson Valley

Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.

The valley

The Hudson Valley runs north of New York City along the river. Counties inside the cruush service area include Orange, Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster, and towns include Beacon, Newburgh, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie and Kingston.

Getting around

Metro-North's Hudson Line runs from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie. Towns farther out, or away from the river, are easier to reach by car.

Using cruush

Plenty of people go up for the weekend. Moving your pin to Beacon or Kingston the day before shows who is around.

Neighborhood notes

Beacon and Newburgh face each other across the river. New Paltz is west of the river in Ulster County. Poughkeepsie is the Dutchess County seat, and Kingston is farther north.

Planning a night

Metro-North's Hudson Line has fewer trains late at night. If you are coming from the city, check the last train home or plan to stay.
