Start with what you want
Before you meet, work out what you are curious about and what you are not ready for. You can say that to him. A decent person will be glad to know.
Talk about protection first
Decide who brings condoms and what you will use them for. Do not leave it for the moment. If you want to know about HIV prevention such as PrEP, a clinician can explain it.
Pacing
- You can stop at any point, and so can he.
- Ask what he likes and tell him what you like.
- Do not let anyone talk you into more than you wanted.
Consent in the middle
A yes to meeting is not a yes to everything. Check in, with words, and watch how he responds. If either of you is unsure, stop.
Look after your health
Get tested regularly if you have more than one partner. A sexual health clinic can set a schedule and talk about vaccines.
Afterward
Check in and keep it private unless he agrees to something else. You do not have to decide what it means.
