Meeting queer people while traveling
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
Before you go
You can move your pin to somewhere you are going. That lets you see who is around, and be seen, before you arrive.
The first night
- Pick a public place for a first meeting.
- Tell a friend where you are going.
- Know how you are getting back before you go out.
- Keep your phone charged.
Passing through
The map shows people who are passing through. If you are only in town for a night, that is a useful thing to be, and it saves explanation.
Before you leave
Check that the place you are going is inside the service area, move your pin, and look at the map once or twice before you travel. You will have a better idea of whether anything is going on.
Staying flexible
You might not meet anyone, and that is fine. Having a plan for the night that does not depend on meeting someone keeps the trip enjoyable either way.
Coverage
The pin has to be inside the cruush service area, which is within about 100 miles of New York City.
