How cruush protects your data
Written by Julien Lenaz, lead developer of cruush.
What is encrypted
Sensitive profile information, stored locations, messages, Feed content and media are encrypted on cruush's servers. So are records of mutual cruushes.
Photos
Profile and message photos are encrypted where they are stored, each with its own key. They are only decrypted for a signed-in viewer who is allowed to see them, and permission is checked again for each request.
Location
Nearby discovery works with coarse location cells, and your stored location is encrypted. What another member sees follows your sharing settings.
Where it runs
cruush runs on European infrastructure. It is independent and not owned by a larger dating company.
What is not there yet
End-to-end encryption is something we are working toward for suitable private parts of cruush. It is not what protects your data today.
Your part
Use a strong, unique password and keep the email address on your account working, because it is how password resets reach you. Think about what you put on your profile, because you control that.
Reporting a problem
If you find a security problem, write to reports@cruush.app.
